Classics Syllabus
 

INSTRUCTIONAL GOALS

At the end of this course, you will

  • Learn about the literary culture of ancients and how myth in particular was used to explain the world as they saw it.

Required Materials

  • Bulfinch’s Mythology, Thomas Bulfinch
  • Mythology, Edith Hamilton
  • Notebook

 

COURSE SCHEDULE

In the first quarter topics will include:

            1. Creation Myths

            2. The Early Heroes

            3. The Olympian God’s and Goddesses

            4. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow


 

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

General Rules:

Students are expected to:

  • be on time to class
  • bring textbook, notebook and calculator to class
  • have homework out and ready to be checked
  • take class notes on a daily basis
  • demonstrate a respectful classroom attitude
