INSTRUCTIONAL GOALS
This senior level elective is designed to introduce students to the subject of forensics and to help them think clearly and critically about forensic science issues and concepts. The course curriculum will include: introduction to forensic science (chapter 1), crime scenes (chapter 2), physical evidence (chapter 3), hairs, fibers and paint (chapter 8), forensic toxicology (chapter 10), forensic aspects of arson and explosion investigations (chapter 11), forensic serology (chapter 12), DNA (chapter 13), fingerprints (chapter 14), and document and voice examination (chapter 16). Students are challenged to learn and evaluate issues relative to the study of forensic science through class discussions, notes, reading assignments and homework.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
The rules of the Student/Parent Handbook will be strictly followed.
Students will come to class with their textbooks, notebooks and pens, and be ready to begin when the bell rings.
Exams will be given at the conclusion of each chapter as announced by the teacher.
Missed exams can be made up only if the student is absent. It is the student’s responsibility to set-up an after school time to make up the exam.
Homework will be assigned regularly, collected and graded for content, neatness and effort.
It is the responsibility of the student to make up missed homework or class work. Missed homework and class work will only be accepted if the student is absent on the day it is assigned or due. All other late work will be accepted at the discretion of the teacher and will lose a letter grade for each day it is late.
Grading Policies:
- A minimum of four exams per quarter.
- Homework Assignments are included as a test grade.
- Research Paper will be included as a test grade.
