INSTRUCTIONAL GOALS
AP Calculus is a course designed to exhaustively cover college curriculum pertaining to Calculus I and Calculus II. The goal of the course is to allow the students to form the basis for all other levels of college mathematics they will take in the future while also preparing them for the AP Calculus AB test given in May.
NEEDS AND RESOURCES
Required Background
To successfully complete this course, you must have completed one or all of the following:
- Math BH with administration approval
- Pre-Calculus Honors
Required Materials
To successfully complete this course, you will need to bring to class everyday all of the following
- A Notebook
- Graphing or quad-ruled paper
- Textbook which should have purchased online
- TI-83 + or TI-84 graphing calculator
Additional Print Resources
Later in the first quarter each student will each be assigned a different AP Calc review book that will we use to practice and study for the exam in May
COURSE SCHEDULE
The Course begins with a review of Pre-Calculus. After this review is completed the topics are covered as follows:
- Limits and Continuity
- Derivatives
- Applications of Derivatives
- The Definite Integral
- Differential Equations
- Applications of the Integral
- Sequences and Series
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Grading Policies:
The system for grading is points based. Each test is worth 100 points. There will be 4 tests for each quarter, unless otherwise specified to the class. The homework will be checked everyday. At the end of the quarter HW will be worth 100 points. For each HW missing 10 points is subtracted from the total 100 points. Homework can not be submitted late. ALL late assignments are factored in as missing work. Additionally each student is assigned a major assignment each quarter. The questions that come from the major assignments are questions from the text book that are associated with the style of the AP test given in May.
