Psychology Syllabus
  Period E

 INSTRUCTIONAL GOALS

Psychology for Seniors, will give students a brief introduction to basic Psychology. Material that will be covered in college level Psychology classes will be introduced in a half-year class. The class will focus on childhood development and the affects on adult life and human behavior, both on an individual level as well as on a social level. The class will be broken into two parts; the first half will cover Freudian Theory, and the second part will cover Post-Freudian group theory.

At the end of this course, you will

  • Know how Psychology was developed
  • Know the theories of Sigmund Freud in regards to childhood development and the affect on human behavior
  • Know about modern Psychological groups, after Freud, and their theories on human behavior

 

NEEDS AND RESOURCES

Required Materials

To successfully complete this course, you will need

  • Psychology: A Way to Grow Second Edition
Additional Print Resources
  • Students will be supplied with several newspaper articles as well as magazine articles dealing with Psychology
 
Media Resources
  • Students will be watching movies based on relevant subject matter at hand. Movies Include: One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and Rain Man

 

 


POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

Grading Policies:

Students will be graded on tests, which are not limited to one chapter, as well as written homework assignments and in class essays based on reading as well as media sources.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Student should come to class prepared to discuss the material at hand. The students should be able to convey the material in their own words. Preparation should be completed for homework, the night before.
