Math B Honors Syllabus
 

INSTRUCTIONAL GOALS

The course will cover the remaining Math B Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry topics necessary for the Math B Regents Exam on a more in-depth basis. The Math B regents exam will be taken in June 2008. Students will learn material at a faster rate and delve into topics more thoroughly with additional enrichment work. Pre-Calculus will also be introduced.

Required Background

To participate in this course, you must have passed the Math A course and maintained an 85 average in Math.

  • Mathematics B workbook published by Amsco
  • TI – 83 Graphing Calculator
  • Notebook

COURSE SCHEDULE

During the 1st quarter, the following chapters and topics will be covered:

  • Chapter 8 – Rational Numbers
  • Chapter 10 – Real Numbers
  • Chapter 20 – Complex Numbers

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

General Rules:

Students are expected to:

  • be on time to class
  • bring textbook, notebook and calculator to class
  • have homework out and ready to be checked
  • take class notes on a daily basis
  • demonstrate a respectful classroom attitude

 

Grading Policies:


In general, each quarter’s grade will be comprised of 4 unit tests and a Homework grade. The Homework grade will be counted as a fifth unit test.
