INSTRUCTIONAL GOALS
At the end of this course, you will
- know basic conversation on various topics
- be able to pronounce Spanish acceptably
- understand basic question & answer patterns in target language
- be prepared for second level of language instruction

Required Background
To successfully complete this course, you must
- know level one vocabulary pertinent to sundry topics
- be able to converse at a beginner level
- understand the fundamental patterns of Spanish grammar
Required Materials
To successfully complete this course, you will need
- textbook Amsco level 1
- notebook designated only for this subject
- teacher generated worksheets that will be distributed
Additional Print Resources
- any additional reading materials that con be obtained
- internet websites that review grammatical principles
COURSE SCHEDULE
Level 1 students will be expected to master certain standardized underlying grammatical concepts.
Mastery of ar, er, and ir present tense conjugations.
Knowledge of adjective agreement.
Introduction to definite and indefinite articles
Question-answer practice via pattern drills
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
General Rules:
Students are expected to arrive to class on time and be seated when the bell rings.
Students must always have their textbook and previously distributed materials.
Grading Policies:
Students will be given a number of short quizzes and tests on a semi-daily basis. This will allow the student to maintain a better grade average even if he doesn’t perform up to par on a given quiz-test.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
In order to do well in a Foreign Language, student should copy all materials. Thus, the student will have better retention.
