Algebra Honors Syllabus
 

INSTRUCTIONAL GOALS

The course will cover all topics that are part of the New York State Algebra I curriculum, as well as delving deeper into the mathematical thinking process. Students will be expected to develop their own theories to justify/explain the concepts covered.

Required Materials

To successfully complete this course, you will need

  • Integrated Algebra textbook published by Prentice Hall
  • TI – 83 Graphing Calculator
  • Notebook

COURSE SCHEDULE

During the 1st quarter, the following chapters and topics will be covered:

  • Chapter 1 – Variables, Functions & Graphs
  • Chapter 2 – Rational Numbers
  • Chapter 3 – Solving Equations

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

General Rules:

Students are expected to:

  • be on time to class
  • bring textbook, notebook and calculator to class
  • have homework out and ready to be checked
  • take class notes on a daily basis
  • demonstrate a respectful classroom attitude

 

Grading Policies:


In general, each quarter’s grade will be comprised of 4 unit tests, two projects, and a Homework grade. The projects and a single Homework grade will be counted as a three unit tests.
