Nutrition Syllabus
 

INSTRUCTIONAL GOALS

The goal of this course is to provide solid, in depth knowledge of nutrition and diet, as well as fitness and exercise. We will discuss the effects these two areas have on the body as well as overall health. We will also dispel some common myths associated with nutrition and exercise.

At the end of this course (half year), students will understand:

  • Function of Macronutrients & Micronutrients
  • How Diet and Nutrition effect the body
  • How Exercise effects the body
  • Training Do’s & Don’ts
  • How to maintain healthy Weight and Body Composition

To successfully complete this course, you will need

  • 1 Subject Notebook
  • 1 Folder

Diet Analysis + (Programs in computer lab will be used to work on Final Project)

COURSE SCHEDULE

Unit 1:   Macronutrients/ Micronutrients

            Vitamins & Minerals

             

           Unit 2: Body Composition

 

           Unit 3: Body Movements & Exercises

           Unit 4: Strength Training – Periodization

            Unit 5: Building a Program

Grading Policies:

The students will be graded on the following:

  • Graded Homework Assignments
  • Chapter Exams following completion of lesson and review
  • Quizzes will be given at the teachers discretion
  • Midterm Project: Designing Your Own Workout Program
  • Final Exam Project: Diet Analysis +
  • Class participation
