Philosophy often is the product of contemporary culture. Historically, philosophers offer different explanations on many of the same issues. It seems as though the fundamental philosophical questions like Who am I? Where did the world come from? What is real? never get answered. Philosophers just find different ways of approching them. They do this in their own unique way using their knowledge of the world around them and their respective cultural background. Consequently, their philosophy becomes an expression of the life and times to which they belong. For instance, in medieval Europe philosophers have a distinctly Christian approach to these questions because of the dominance of the Christian Church during this era. In a well-written essay (typed double spaced 4-6 pages) pick one or more philosophers and discuss both their philosphical ideas and the world inwhich they live, and, more importantly, how their philosohical ideas are a product of the world in which they live.
