MLA Format & Style

Archbishop Stepinac High School uses MLA formatting for all papers and projects.

General Format

Always follow your teachers' instructions for format when writing a paper or project.  The most common formating rules are as follows:
  • Use 1-inch margins throughout the paper.  Indent the first word of a paragraph five spaces.
  • Double-space the entire paper including the Works Cited page.
  • In the upper left-hand corner of your paper, type your name, the teacher's name, the course name, and the date.  Each item should appear on a separate line.  Double-space between each line.
  • Center the title of your paper.  Do not underline, put in quotes, italics, or bold your title.
  • Place your last name and the page number in the header of the paper.  Number all pages including the Works Cited page.
For a specific examples, use the fully-formated Paper Template.
