Dear Fellow Alumni,

I am so pleased to see this website going live.  The Stepinac Alumni Network is going online.  In the past, the Stepinac Alumni Network was a loose affiliation of a few classmates that stayed in touch over the years and groups of local businessmen who made the connection that they both went to the same high school.

The Stepinac Alumni Network can be so much more valuable.  This website and groups on social networking sites like LinkedIn and Facebook can allow the Stepinac Alumni Network to grow larger and much more valuable to it’s members.  “It is not what you know…it is who you know”.  This can be so powerful if you went to Stepinac.  Our alumni have become leaders in every industry, CEOs of global multi-national / Fortune 500 companies, doctors, lawyers, athletes, actors, politicians, priests, you name it.

Why stay in touch?  Nostalgia.  Have a chat or meet up with some old friends from your class or your sports team from high school.  Friendship far from home.  Just moved to a new city, there are probably a dozen Stepinac alumni who live there and would love to introduce you to your new hometown.  Some of my close friends from Stepinac live in Chicago, Seattle, Phoenix, State College, PA, Nice, France, and Dublin, Ireland.  You never know.  Business Networking.  Times are tough and good jobs go fast.  Both for the job seeker and the employer (I have been on both sides) you want to find an employee with a good history and the ability to check references.  A large network helps the employer find good talent quickly and allows them to check more references (other network members).  So it is not just a way to float your resume, although that is a nice perk too.  Mentoring.  Remember when you were in high school and the guidance counselor asked what you want to be when you grow up?  How many of us are working in a job that resembles that answer.  I am not.  It would be great to afford the next generation of Stepinac grads the luxury of a network of professionals in every field that they can reach out to for a phone call, a couple of emails with some industry info or an internship.

So, welcome to the new “online” Stepinac Alumni Network.  Sign up for your own customized account and control the way you want to access the network.

Also, don’t forget to turn off your monitor and grab you PDA and get out of the office once in a while.  If you are looking for a place to go, how about 950 Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains, NY 10605.  Stepinac has events for alumni, family and friends all year long.  Come back to the web site often to see a calendar of events and stop by and see the alma mater and enjoy a game, a play or social event.
